Nøne Futbol Club: The Artist's Approach

The World As A Playground
My collective name and its logo reflect the transversality of my practice and the plurality of my fields of action. "Nøne Futbol Club" combines three terms with Nordic (the letter "ø"), Spanish (fútbol) and English (club) consonances. The letter "ø", pronounced "eu" and here modifying the English word none ("none, nobody"), is also in mathematics the symbol of an empty whole. My artistic process explores references to play, popular culture and hacking. The recursive principle in my work is reversal.

It's not a question of diverting elements of pop culture (or popular culture, the term changing depending on whether this culture comes from one side or the other of the Atlantic Ocean) but of a reversal whose final address is always popular culture. A double inversion, whose process of revelation mirrors the possible futures of the art world.

The playful component is inseparable from my creative process, which approaches the world as a playground. My performances, sculptures and installations mainly use humor as an entry point.

I combine performative action, conceptual messages and sculpture as a living, ephemeral object. The works are the result of a long series of processual actions. I work contextually to make each aesthetic experience unique and critical. Between tragedy and humor, a political and fictional game takes shape.

Featured work:

Work no144 : Hot wheels, is a burned wood circle that looks like a tire. This work follows Work no206: 1984, a Renault 5, whose artists had dismantled the doors, the bonnet, the roof, the bumpers, to put them back together upside down.

But here, for Hot Wheels, Nøne Futbol Club's work is enriched by a feeling of doubt and mistrust. As subject to form, but destroying function, Hot Wheels introduces the mute worry of double-playing: real tire or wood? Voluntary combustion action, or fatal road accident?

In front, Work no 144: Hot Wheels, images of demonstrations and revolts spontaneously come to mind. Going through the ordeal of fire, these wooden rings take the form of tires that burn during riots.

The blackened wood, cracked, surprisingly akin to the material and rubber tires streaks. Playing with lure, but also words, with reference to the American brand Hot Wheels, these burned woods are exposed as an installation, on the ground or stack. In a second time they made a mold of one of it and casted it in different materials such as plaster, aluminium and finally rubber. Thus they emerge from their own definition in a loop that is often found at Nøne Futbol Club.
